Mug Haiti <> Charèt Machann Glas
Mug Haiti <> Charèt Machann Glas
In the afternoon, when the schools have already closed their doors, on the roads of Pétion-Ville, one can encounter Adolphe, a gentleman aged over seventy, with a gentle demeanor, dressed in old clothes and plastic sandals revealing the cracked calluses of his tired and deformed feet from years of wear.
Adolphe is always accompanied by his cart for the ambulatory sale of ice cream. He had bought it years ago at the Salomon Market down town, from a craftsman who found the wood in a scrap-yard. I remember this cart in bottle green, but for a few days now, Adolphe has refreshed it in yellow.
The ice cream is sold in a single flavor, kept cool inside a large pot which also contains ice in a separate compartment, to maintain coldness even during the hottest hours of the day.
